Welcome to the Olentangy Beer Mile, where you can celebrate your love of running and beer!
The 2022 Olentangy Beer Mile is back to kick off Craft Beer Week!
Join Olentangy River Brewing Company and our partners at Fleet Feet and Shakeout as we present our Olentangy Beer Mile! Meet at our brewery for your first beer, take off and run! Drinks and laps will continue until ending on our patio for a celebration.
The Olentangy Beer Mile is complete with open heats(unless you’ve got what it takes to join the Elite field), relays (for those of us who can’t handle the real deal), party, and of course, beer!
Compete in the open heats, form a relay team, or come watch the Elite Heat!
- Through April 14 – $20
- April 15-30 – $25
- Race Day – $30 (t-shirt sizes are limited
- Relays are $50 and include t-shirts for each participant, race day sign ups will have limited sizes
** To form/join relay team, select “Yes” for Join/Create Group or team. You may have up to four members on a team.

- And of course, the required beer for the beer mile.

When: Saturday, May 14th – 1pm-4pm
Where: Olentangy River Brewing Company (303 Green Meadows Drive S, Lewis Center, OH 43035)
All participants must be 21 years of age to participate. This includes designated drivers. No exceptions. Ride sharing services are acceptable.
Rules, Regulations & Nonsense
Four Laps. Four Beers. One Mile. Drink a beer, run a quarter mile, repeat.
Don’t be dumb! All participants are expected to act like adults. Come with a designated driver. Know your limits. Be a good human. Olentangy Beer Mile reserves the right to deny admittance or remove you from the event if causing a disturbance. There are no rules requiring you to drink alcoholic beverages on the course or at any point in the event. You are an adult. Choose to participate, or not.
What is a Beer Mile?
- At the start of each wave each participant(or relay team) drinks four beers, and runs four laps of the quarter mile loop to run a total of 1 mile.
- Participants must drink beer within the 10 meter drinking zone located just before the start/finish line.
- Beers will be consumed from containers provided by Olentangy Beer Mile, and may not be opened in advance.
- Beer containers cannot be tampered with in any manner.
- Empty beers must be tipped over participants head before next lap can be attempted.
All participants must have a registered Designated Driver. Designated drivers receive free entry to the event! Designated drivers receive special wrist bands and are not permitted to drink alcohol at the event.
You must be 21 years of age to participate. This includes designated drivers. No exceptions.
Designated Drivers: All participants must include the name of your Designated Driver during registration! Designated drivers receive free entry to the event!
Packet Pickup: Packet pick up will start race day at 11:30am
Beer Mile Heats: When registering you will be asked to provide an estimated finish time. If you don’t know, Guess. Don’t be too overzealous with your guessing or you’ll be in a heat with people who may slap you on the tail end when they lap you. There is an elite heat that will put the best of the best head-to-head!
Times for heats are as listed below: Olentangy Beer Mile will place participants in heats based on estimated finish times entered during registration. (Official Heats outside of the “Elite” heat will be drawn up the morning of competition and registration will end at noon.)
- Heat 1 1:00pm “Elite”
- Heat 2 1:20pm
- Heat 3 1:40pm
- Heat 4 2:00pm
Awards: Everyone gets a finisher’s “medal” of sorts. There may be additional awards. There may not be. You’ll know you won an additional award if you are handed one.
Event is held rain or shine.
No registration refunds of transfers will be offered.
Olentangy River Brewing Company will be serving up their best-selling brews.
